Opera 52 bookmark manager is awful

I would like the bookmarks manager that was in version 51 to be put back into version 52. There is no way to open a folder in the new interface to get at the contents. What would give anyone the idea that tiles and not a branching list would be better to manage hundreds of bookmarks? I had to get an extension just to manage bookmarks normally. That is just insane!

I found out that it was an experimental setting that caused the problem: "Redesigned bookmarks page
New design for bookmarks page supporting dark theme "

That is a misleading explanation. The dark theme only changes the colours, but not the function. Why anyone would want an interface like that is a complete mystery to me.
