Hi. After updating my windows 10 x64 to latest version 14393.2007, my opera settings reset every time I close/start it. Bookmarks and passwords are saved, but every personal configurations are reset every time to default. Please, fix

@nero1024 Did you try with a clean Opera profile directory?

@leocg, I tried clean install, with default directories. After clean install, I had to set everything again and everything saved, but after windows restart it's all the same again.. If it helps, I noticed that "roaming" folder is now in protected operating system files caregory

@nero1024 It seems that Opera is not being able to save the changes or that they are being reset.

Download and install the portable version and then check if the settings changes are kept there.

It's probably only working there because Opera Developer uses AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Developer, instead of the "Opera Stable" one.

                  Including deleting/renaming "AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable" first?

Under "C:\Users", is your username still the same or are you know using a new username where you old username folder is still there?

@burnout426, yes, I have removed any trace of opera before I did fresh install (excluding registry). Yes, user name is still the same

@nero1024 If ya don't mind me asking.. When ya start opera are you using launcher.exe or opera.exe ?..

It may be that you pinned Opera to your taskbar by right-clicking on the taskbar icon of a running instance of Opera and now you are trying to start it from the pinned icon. This actually invokes Opera.exe and not the launcher, which somehow causes opera to save a new blank profile so that even if you run the launcher afterwards, your settings are already lost.

i really did not explain that just right ... but it does make a difference on how ya execute opera lol

@nvmjustagirl, yes I start opera from pinned shortcut and I always did. I wonder why this doesn't work after windows update, but opera developer is working fine? Sometimes I pinned opera.exe, sometimes launcher.exe. Didn't noticed any difference

                          @nero1024 i can't explain nevermind lol

did'ya try a shortcut to desktop with launcher.exe.. to see if it will save settings.. Are you letting Opera exit fulling after closing it (it can be slow to close down).

ya could try a safe boot with networking to rule out other software (e.g. antivirus or firewall) interfering with Opera Browser.. and to see if it saves settings even without network

If it does not save then perhaps it is the new opera update..even tho the developer works..

And now in opera developer, YouTube and Google accounts are not saved. I mean, I have to sign in every time I close browser. Never happened before. Entering google verification code every time is not cool. What is wrong with settings saving in opera?

@nero1024 Did you keep the default installation path? If so them it means that your original Opera installation may not have access to %appdata%\Opera Software\Opera so the changes in settings can not be saved.

@leocg, well, default path was desktop. I moved opera portable to Program Files. Other than that, you can make conclusions based on my previous feedback on this topic. Also, portable version would be ultimate, but I can't make it default browser and it's necessary for links..

@nero1024 Yep, the portable version is not registered when installed, so you can not set it as default browser.
