Unable to load Opera

  • Since I upgraded to macOS High Sierra I can't use Opera on my main account. On opening I get:

    "Can't open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges. You might want to contact the administrator of this machine."

    I tried contacting myself but I was no use, Google as I might I can't figure out what file it can't open. If I create a new Mac user Opera works fine for that user. All other apps and browsers work fine. I've reinstalled etc to no avail.

  • You could install Opera into your user account rather than in system Applications. I spend 99.9% of my time in my standard account, so applications that I added went into that account, and they are working there.
