Sync problems - reinstalling my PC

Hi guys,
I have just reinstalled my whole OS , but it is the same device and so on. I did it previosly and opera sync was wirking fine, even with passwords without any special sync code. I reinstalled it 2 days ago, and now it is asking for a sync password, which I have no idea what it could be. Is there any safe question or reminder, or any criteria about the characters? I honestly don't remember at the moment, but I still see my data on the server, however I can't access it because of these reasons.
I don't want to hit the reset on sync, because as far as I know then I will lose all the data and I don't have any other way to back it up as I am using the same device. So any ideas what to do in this case? Anyway, how is it possible that previously my passwords were sync even withhout the sync code and why does opera not recognising that it is the same device and treats it differently.? Thank you!

in the future grab yourself a copy of hekasoft backup & restore. don't sign in to opera in the browser, cause once you do a restore there really isn't any need to do so.

@chuchkyschild Thanks! But before I reinstelled my PC I was looking for like an html file where is stores the data, but i couldn't find anything. That is why I thought that it will automatically sync when I log in again.

@hmoncsi Synced passwords are encrypted using your Opera's account credentials. If you change your Opera's account password, Sync will ask for the old one to decrypt your passwords.
So you probably will need to remember your old password.Tip: Try creating a pattern for password to make it easy for you to remember them but at the same time difficult for others to try to guess them.
