Opera crashing/locking up/freezing very frequently. Known cause?

This has been happening with more frequency lately. Is there a cause that I can troubleshoot?
It is so frustrating I am ready to switch browsers.....

Firstly make a Profile Back Up (look at the signature).

Then,
take a look here.
As an addition, Shift+Esc and check if there is any extension eating extra resources.

Try disabling Opera Sync.
More and more people are reporting this lately.

All my Opera Desktop installations (Linux, Windows) are having this problem for more than a month now (since Opera 45). A new profile didn't work.
