Broken images in Opera

Haven't used Opera in years as Chrome has been pretty rock solid.

Unfortunately I am already battling a problem with Opera in that it seems to have a problem downloading some images and just shows a broken image symbol.

If I try right clicking one of the offending images and selecting "Open image in new tab" the browser gives this feedback: 'found an invalid character in header value'
