New update for Opera Next Beta seems to still continue to have this problem.

Version: 45.0.2552.626 - Opera is up to date

Getting this in the Console log:

We've found the cause of this bug. A fix will be available soon. Thanks to all of you!

If you can't wait a few days, and you'd like to work around this issue, try Opera -> Preferences, then click Browser, and deselect "Enable the search pop-up when selecting text". This disables the selection pop-up (which is the cause of this bug), you can turn it back on once you get an update with the fix. Of course not using Ctrl+Click as advised above will also work around the issue.

Ummm, I get "Page Crashed" on every single tab i try open... This includes all menu items, Preferences, Quick dial, EVERYTHING!!! I completely deleted the app and all other system files using App Cleaner, re installed and still the same. I can't do the above fix, The preferences window just says "Page Crashed"

@viceverser, you're seeing a different issue then what is described by the people in this thread. It's probably better to open a separate thread to discuss it.

Just wanted to update here:
Current Opera browser is still crashing when I open new tabs and select on them:
Version information

Version: 44.0.2510.1449 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Mac OS X 10.10.5 64-bit

However I noticed that Opera Next was updated and it's not crashing anymore when selecting newly created tabs:

Version: 45.0.2552.634 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: beta
System: Mac OS X 10.10.5 64-bit

Now I can use my favorite browser again in my Mac. Hope Opera browser can see this fix.

@furrynutz: Opera 45.0.2552.635 was released today and should fix the issue.

You'll either get it via auto-update (might take a few days before becoming available for everyone), or if you're in a hurry just update manually by downloading it from opera.com

Here's what is happening for me, and it happens a lot.

On facebook, have clicked on the link to upload a photo. Photo starts to upload, and I start to write a caption. Opera crashes.
After Opera restarts, photo uploads and all is fine.

Does not happen every time but possibly 1 in 4.
