Opera has changed....and not for the better.....

What exactly do you need to know? Opera Presto was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. The company decided to make a new browser based upon the Chromium engine. That meant that many features would have to be dropped... some for good and some temporarily. The current stable browser (20) is a great deal more capable than v.15 which was released last July. It takes time to do this coding and Opera is a relatively small company. From what Haavard told us, the decision was primarily made by the developers rather than strictly a business-motivated one. And that is really the long and short of it.

Moderator, please consider closing this thread. Thanks.
Yes mods, please, only allow comments and opinions from leushino and his cronies because they have no issues with Opera and so other who do really don't know what they are on about! We can only have nice, supportive comments on here so we don't upset the developers or the Company.
And THIS is exactly WHY this thread should have been closed from the get-go. People like you sit in the bushes and wait to take your cheap pot shots which add NOTHING to the discussion.

Actually it is NOT a legitimate thread for a number of reasons. First off, you haven't asked for help so it's apparent you don't want any. Most "legitimate" threads are about users seeking help with the browser. Furthermore, you haven't made any suggestions for features you would like to see added (indeed, that should be done in the "Suggestion Box") but instead simply voiced an opinion and stated you will never use Opera again. There's nothing legitimate about the thread whatsoever and all you're seeking to do is fan flames and start yet another useless flame war.
Moderator? This is a community. Questions and comments should be welcome. However as leushino thinks not then there we are! Comments not welcome.

I don't see you add much to the discussion except fanboy bullshit.

Funksoulbro... you're a rather pathetic individual who appears to enjoy stalking me. So you went to the extreme of going back eight years to see what I had posted then... LOL... big deal. People do change over an eight year stance although in your case, you were probably a stalker even back then. Here's the real thing, Funkie. The new Opera is NOT rubbish... it's an awesome reworking of the Opera browser. Now if you don't like it... tough luck. I'm not telling you to wait for anything. Knowing you, you'll just look for opportunities to attack me or anyone else who has the audacity to disagree with your skewed view of reality. Here's a thought: why not take a long walk off a short pier?
Only eight years leushino? Crikey, some of us who 'sit in the bushes' have many, many, many years advance on use of Opera than you then. As they used to say about my old mother-in-law who became a Catholic late in life - 'there's none so dedicated as the converted!' Did you really hate Opera? It doesn't show.

There's no question nor opinion in this thread. There's "I hate Chrome and this is a ragequit because I didn't care to search before posting". I agree that it has no value and should be closed. Opera should not accept/encourage this kind of post and more useless threads like this keep appearing and harming these forums' real goals. There's no feedback here, there's no reason stated, there's no suggestion, there's no unanswered question. There's nothing that would make Opera make a 180° spin after almost completing a year of the move to Chromium.
The only thing this thread brings is a chance to spread hate and for people like you to come here and hijack the thread to attack others personally.

"I hate Opera" is an opinion so I think you are wrong there rafaelluik. I use Opera 20 all the time, have Next and Developer installed to peek at what's coming. I have IE to drop into when Opera falls over on certain websites. I have adapted but miss things like bookmarks particularly. I use stash and hope that one day I can merge it with my many bookmarks. I just can't abide this attitude of a few here that anyone who thinks Opera has taken a wrong turn is mad, misguided, doesn't understand the big plan or is just plain bolshey.
I don't hate Opera. It is still my default browser and I don't see myself changing. However I do mourn Opera's shift in emphasis.

No, without a reason it's just shouting hate and this is useless. -

I can hold an opinion without giving you a reason. However the OP did state his reason: "I am very disappointed because Opera has changed to the chromium based platform"

Who gets to decide if any thread is a legitimate thread, i dont think any browser has had dissapointment heaped upon it like this browser has, if someone doesnt like any particular thread, why dont they just ignore that thread and only post in those threads that they themselves agree with or start another thread, no one is forced to read or post in any of these threads, even the people who disagree with the current direction Opera has taken want it to improve. Some people are happy and some people arent, thats a fact of life, To demand that a thread be closed because they dont agree with it is wrong. We have become a society of bickering children. And not everyone needs to post only because they need help or answers to something, they can also make posts stating thier opinion and expect feedback with out being bashed.

I'm not stalking you. I just Googled your username along with the word "fanboy" and there you were, on the Firefox forums saying that you think Opera is OK, but you hate the fact that there are fanboys here who can't stand anyone criticising the browser. LOL. You've turned into the very thing you once hated.
You should be banned from here. You contribute absolutely nothing, other than to ruin threads where anyone dares to say "I don't like this" regarding the new version of Chropera.

These are the Forum Rules
Please follow these rules when participating in the Opera forums:
Search before you add a new post or thread, to see if the topic has already been covered.
Post in the right forum.
Use a descriptive and relevant title for new threads. As a rule of thumb, try to use at least three words in the thread title.
Describe the problem you are having clearly and to the point. Be specific, and remember to include important details, such as the exact error message or address of the site.
Stay on-topic. Don't hijack other people's threads.
Don't write in all-caps, and leave swearing, rudeness and flaming at the door.
Don't post the same thing more than once.
Read the announcements in each forum, and pay attention to announcement threads. So this is not a legitimate thread, and should be closed.
The topic has already been covered many times, and this is just another flame-bait thread that's going nowhere.

I left Chrome because it sucks. I started using Opera, but find that it sucks too. For me it crashes all the time. Chrome never crashed and/or if it did, all I had to do was restart and everything was okay. Not with Opera. Opera crashes (stops accepting links) and I have to shut down the computer to get it to work again. Totally unacceptable.

All I can say is that it is the truth - the version number goes up, but none of the features that made Opera better than the rest are coming back. For Christ's sake - you guys don't even have an RSS reader anymore! Click on an Atom or RSS feed and all you get is the raw XML and no option to open it in an actual reader.
This is getting pathetic. It's almost like you want us all to leave.

And why would you find it necessary to google my name and then take an eight year old post of mine and repost it here if not to add fuel to the fire. The FACT that you did this speaks far more about the kind of person you are than what you think it says about me. Frankly... I feel a sense of pity for you but that's beside the point.
Moderator(s): is the course of this discussion really what you want to see here? If you allow this sort of useless thread to exist, you're only encouraging more of the same. These complainers will ruin the forum just as they did the old forum.

Yep, please do your job and ban this extremely fanboyish troll who insults people who criticise the direction Chropera has taken. Thanks.

if someone doesnt like any particular thread, why dont they just ignore that thread
How can I do that?? AFAIK I need to read the thread first just so I know whether it's useless or not. How can I ignore before reading when reading is required to know if I'd like to ignore it?I can hold an opinion without giving you a reason.
But if you want your opinion to be of any use for me you must state the reason. However the OP did state his reason: "I am very disappointed because Opera has changed to the chromium based platform"
Yes I'll finish the copy/paste for you "meaning it is the same as Google Chrome now. I hate Google Chrome!"
This is not a valid reason. Opera is not the same as Chrome at all, so the thread doesn't make any sense at all. He says he hates Chrome/Chromium but he doesn't say the reason why, so it's impossible for anyone to figure out the reason and take this as valid feedback. Google is a traitor of what group of people and why? What they did? And again that doesn't affect anything in Opera as Opera Software has full control over the source code they're using in their product. How is anyone from Opera Software supposed to understand what the user wants with this thread? He didn't mention a single feature or behavior he misses or think that works worse in the new Opera browser so there's no way it'll be improved by his "feedback", and nothing in this thread points to a reason why they should go back to work on Opera-Presto either. He has a legit question... Well there's a politer way to ask that doesn't make your topic look like a classic ragequit thread with nothing inside to take into account. The answer to the question can also be find easily via a web search, but to point directly to the sources:

Ok, after finding it useless, lets throw 12 to 15 posts back and forth bashing each other, I guess it's more fun to one up each other and act liike little children, No need to close the thread, if the children would stop posting, it would automatically go down to the bottom of the list unseen, UNLESS someone wants to search for it to post more garbage.
