Linux Window Decorations and Themes

  • Something that has annoyed me when using Opera on both Windows and Linux is how on Windows you can combine the tabs to the windows border and that on Win XP/Vista the title bar is blue while Win 7+ its based on theme, however on Linux neither of these features are available. I would absolutely love if we had at least a theme matching thing so I am not looking at Numix's (Or any other theme) dark color and a not-so-great looking light gray. Heck even the long-awaited dark theme for Opera would be better then the default colors. Something to note here is that I do not believe this is too terribly hard as I know other programs can do this and going into the first thing I said, Chrome has been able to do both of these things (I know this isn't Chrome, its just an example.)

  • One reason Opera is faster than Chrome is their simpler UI - and yes, lack of options is part of "simpler". If they can find a way to implement a basic dark theme without too much loss of speed I'm sure they will, eventually.
