How do I remove the intrusive Google links on the startup page?

I think I could find Google if I need to. I could even make a bookmark bar. But having what appear to be unwanted, nonremovable Google links at startup is intrusive and creepy.

Unless, of course, and I hope, someone can tell me how to remove them, for which I would be quite grateful.

If you mean the Google search bar, go to settings page and type with arrow keys:

UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A

You will activate power user configuration and you will be able to remove google search bar.

This is a joke right? This complicated "easter egg" answer is how you get Google out of this browser? That's funny and very disturbing.

Look, the option -- at this time -- is only available to eliminate the Google Search Box in Power User Mode, as sidneyneto has suggested. It ought to be, in my view, part of settings for everything. Maybe in a update, it will be.

Here's a discussion on entering Power User Mode.

              http://newsblog.wti.com/index.php/2013/11/opera-19-developer-update-how-to-enable-operas-power-user-mode/

You will note that what sidneyneto suggested is right -- go to settings and use the arrow keys to start in the following fashion -- UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT b a [the last two are regular keys] [I did it with a small b and small a and it worked] [so don't capitalize: I can't vouch for that]

ONE CAVEAT!!! Before you start with the arrow keys in the order suggested, when you are in settings, CLICK ONCE WITH THE MOUSE ON AN EMPTY AREA OF SETTINGS (in the blue area) to get yourself outside the Settings Search box. (Otherwise it may well not work.

Now you will get the message about You have enabled power user settings . . . and click on the part that says proceed.

Look under the page that comes up, for the heading "Start Page" more than half way down, and you will see an item "Hide the Search box in speed dial." That is where you need to put a check. I did it and it works!

                Seems to work, thank you.

Now let's see whether I can import the bookmarks without being tortured like Opera has always done...
