Developer Tools / timeline / Taking screenshots does not work

TL;DR. Opposed to Google chrome using this feature does not work.
In detail:
- Open developer tools (F12)
- Select tab "Timeline"
- Make sure "Screenhots" is enabled
- Enable recording by clicking on the red record icon
- ... Do something with the page that changes it ...
- Stop recording by clicking on the red icon or press CTRL+E
=> nothing is depicted in the screenhosts area
