Hi leocg,
No, I'm not seeing anything when I click on the play button of the site in question. Also..just to let you know, I'm typing this reply using the firefox browser because when I try to access the opera forums with the opera browser I'm receiving a ' Opps something went wrong on our end ' message.
Thanks,
David -

Hi leocg,
I surely would hate to give up using the opera browser just because it won't play mp3 file's. Of course i truly appreciate you trying to help me..surely someone else here in the forum's has had the same issue. Coincidentally, when I use the opera browser with windows 10, the mp3 file plays correctly.

Hi leocg,
Not that I'm aware of..I did install the VLC Player, but it didn't seem to help. By the way, I'm typing this reply on one of my computer's that's running Windows 10. Opera seems to function correctly while using that O.S...includind playing mp3 audio. Thanks again for all of your assistance.

I have had to give up Opera, which I like very much, as it will not play CNN video and CNN news video. Other browsers will run CNN without a problem on my Win 7 desktop. All other features of Opera run without problems.
Any ideas for a 'work-around' for what the problem(s) are? Thanks, Harvey

VLC uses a npapi plugin, what stopped being supported by Chromium based browsers since a while ago.
It also doesn't install codecs on your computer and even if it was the case, there won't be any difference for Opera.I asked about the codec pack because if you had never installed one, I would ask you to try to open the mp3 file on Media Player.

Hi leocg,
Just to keep you updated..I recently went to this webpage :http://www.windows7codecs.com and downloaded the software. That didn't seem to solve the audio not playing issue that I described in my original post. The audio will play however using windows media player.

Hi leocg,
Why is it when I use google chrome or firefox..I don't have to do anything additional when playing the audio on the page I first mentioned ?

Hi leocg,
Thanks for all of your effort's in trying to help me correct the issue of mp3's not playing correctly with opera while using windows 7 SP1. On that laptop I've un-installed opera because after trying every possible thing both you and myself could think of I gave up.I still have one more question concerning the opera browser..in settings I have the 'show advanced settings'box checked, but I'm yet to see those 'advanced' settings anywhere..maybe I don't know where they are supposed to be.
Thanks,
David -

Hi leocg,
I just recently got new glasses..I surely don't see what you stated "Check the settings with a dot on the left. They are the advanced ones."

Hi leocg,
I guess I didn't know what the dot's were..thanks so much for describing what they meant. Here in the forums is there anyway to set the timestamp to what my 'local' time actually is ? Currently it's 1:00 p.m. c.s.t.

I have a similar issue here, but when trying to search for a solution I stumbled upon this weird issue:
The mp3 file on http://odb.org/ (which is under the audio control) plays well, while this file, which is AFAIK the same file as on the odb.org page, pops up for download:
http://dzxuyknqkmi1e.cloudfront.net/odb/2016/10/odb-10-11-16.mp3
And, AFAICS the same mime type. Opera41 wants to download all mp3 files, while ogg files are played without any problem.
I read that from Opera32, mp3 files should be played correctly, but this is not the case over here.
Anyone a hint?
Richard.
