In order to post on Opera's websites, you need to have a username and email.

After resetting my password and then (most likely) putting the same password back in that I had before, I was greeted with my Account page and a HUGE message at the top stating: In order to post on Opera's websites, you need to have a username and email.
Um, yeah I already had a username, but I suppose maybe others didn't no issue.
And obviously I already had an email since I JUST went through the reset part
BUT, no no, NOW it won't let me go any further! Not until I place my country in, because even though Opera is totally universal, I MUST place my country in otherwise I'm just not allowed to move on? Obviously the Admins would like to know where the traffic is coming from or something NO issue, but why did that top line state: In order to post on Opera's websites, you need to have a username and email.
When this is FALSE.
It should have said: In order to post on Opera's websites, you need to have a username and email AND supply your country (oh and forget your email if you just rest your password (sorry about that) oh and forget your username if you actually already had on (our mistake) WE JUST WANT THAT DAMN COUNTRY!)Well I put in a country (and I'm not saying that I've broken any policy or anything) but then removed it. I'll check after this if it stayed or not, because once on that page NO way out unless a country is put in, no country basically get out.
So I'll check if I somehow bypassed it, and IF I did am I breaking any policy? And IF I did so happen to place a country in please remove it, since if it is not a condition of entry I do NOT agree for it to be in my settings for me or admins (or who knows who).Am I making a mountain out of nothing? These simple pointless mistakes by your site is HOW hackers get in, get it right or don't do it at all.

Huge? Really? It seems a normal message for me.

Yes, because the forum depends on your country info to show the post time, for example.
Am I making a mountain out of nothing?
Most probably.
Really, you could just have chosen a random country if you didn't want to set yours real one.
Anyway, nor Opera's site nor any other would depend on you placing the info to know from where you are connecting, being it the real one or not.

Thanks for your reply leocg
I suppose I may as well select Norway then
I notice that your (the site) terms state that '3rd party' sites may (and are) involved here, and therefore my info may be (without any responsibility of this site) be seen elsewhere. As as excellent example I received an email (today) from user: kralinutin, displaying a name of Susan, and her email to me was:
Kim ?! Hello!
Where are you from ?I don't particularly want any solicitated messages/emails/anything about buy this in my country or do I want to meet these singles that are close to my address! I'm not suggesting this email definitely came from someone here, only that it shows as a relevant example of my concern. Plus I'm not concerned about country timezones.
I may be one of the last forum type members still holding onto privacy with the knowledge that Admins/Mods already know, as for other users, they don't. It's highly possible you won't understand
Obviously trivial for any teenager or 20/30 something year old. To me it's important.

There is no such user and even if it was the case, (s)he couldn't get your email address.

Where are you from ?You probably got a spam, something that has been around since email was created.
