I don't now what's happening with Opera these days, they seem to have gone off the rails a bit.

Maybe work is being carried out on a major server side update to Opera Mini so that it too uses a webkit based rendering engine.

I would have figured Opera Mini 8 would have been announced and out by now, but it's looking like if such a version happens, it'll be early 2014 at best due to the looming holidays toward the end of the month.
