I get the message "This site can't be reached" pretty much all the time. It makes some suggestions, but it's not been helpful.
This site can’t be reached
www.facebook.com unexpectedly closed the connection.
Try:
Reloading the page DIDN'T WORK
Checking the connection WORKS FINE
Checking the proxy and the firewall I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THIS IS SHARED WITH OTHER BROWSERS, CHROME AND SAFARI WORK FINE.
Check your internet connection. WORKS FIE.
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using. WORKS FINE.
Allow Opera to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings. If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again. I USE AVAST BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS.
If you use a proxy server... I DONT THINK I DO THIS.So...
Other browsers in my macbook pro such as chrome work fine.
Other devices in the same network work fine.I've found that if I delete browsing history data in Opera, it starts working again and I can go into gmail and facebook..., but after a few hours it stops working and I get the error message again.

Try turning on off Opera Turbo. Especially if you are inside a company firewall. Opera Turbo is a proxy service.
Have you fscked your local propeller head today?

Confirm the issue on Ubuntu.
I can try to load a page dozens of times with the same error. Sometimes it finally loads.
Opera Turbo is disabled.
Same behavior in private mode, with no extensions loaded. Though, I disabled all network-related extensions in the normal mode too.
Chromium and Firefox loads the same URLs at the same time without any problems.Opera 40.0.2308.62
Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS -

Since I upgrade Opera I receive the same messages too. Nothing seems to fix the problem. It used to be the best browser, but now is a real torture to receive this error messages instead open the pages that you want. I receive the error trying to open Gmail, facebook, instagram and some others.

I found is not an Opera problem, but Network configuration.
I solved it changing the settings for IPv6 to: link-local only in my Mac.
Now everything works fine again. -

Guys just try this "Settings > Privacy and security" and then find the "WsbRTC" and change it to "Use default public and private network interfaces only" then it should work everywhere

I too suffer from the same problem: some sites just won't load on Opera while they work quite fine on other browsers. I tried everything but could not get it to work.
Yesterday I tried to complete and submit a report on my State's Secretary of State (SoS) web site. No luck. The required web sites opened and worked perfectly on two other browsers. I called the SoS's office, was immediately connected to the tech help person whose first question was, "what browser are you using?" When I told him Opera, he said, "Try Firefox, Safari or Chrome. They should work."
He was right. The required sites opened on Firefox and I was able to complete and submit.
What a shame. I have learned to love Opera but this appears to be a problem that almost has me going back to Firefox. I will continue to use Opera and look forward to the problem being solved. When the first piece of advice from a site owner is to tell you to use another browser, that means the problem is one they have faced many times in the past and is probably a lot bigger than the settings on my iMac.
Opera should pay some attention to this vexing problem, if they haven't already.

Turning off Opera Turbo fixed it for me. Worth pointing out that even these forums did not work with it on. Had to use Chrome to get here!

Turning off Opera Turbo also fixed it for me. Is this a defect in Opera or something on my end that needs to be fixed?
