How to get Opera to display the full url in the adress-bar?

      The Opera help says

      "
go to Settings > Preferences > Advanced > Browsing and check "Show full web address in address field".
      "

      http://help.opera.com/Windows/12.10/en/toolbars.html

Its even in Opera's security guide on number 1 to display the full url.
      http://www.opera.com/help/tutorials/security/guide/

But there is no 'browsing' in the advanced settings and no "Show full web address in address field".

      Anyone?

Assuming you are asking about Presto Opera (12.xx), the path to the setting is: Ctrl+F12 > Advanced > Browsing > near the bottom of the list that appears, make sure "Show full web address in address field" is checked > OK.

If you're asking about Blink Opera (versions >15), the feature does not exist until Opera 21. In that version, you can set it via Alt+P > Browser > User Interface > make sure "Show full URL in combined search and address bar" is checked.

sorry this is in Dutch, these are the only options under 'user interface':

          • display bookmark toolbar
          • hide space above tab-toolbar when window is maximized

As has been said, it's impossible to do it in Opera older than 21, which currently remains in development. 🙂

I'd say like new Opera apologists... it's not a problem for me! I can display full address by clicking in address field! 🙂

Try to be patient and wait for new version of Opera or install 21 alongside with stable version.

You'll only be able to do it in Opera 21 and newer (still in development) after enabling the power user mode.

Go to Opera -> Settings, click in the page to remove the focus from the search field and type the Konami Code (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → b a).

My Opera tells me this is the most recent version (20.0.1387.82).

So those desciptions in the help are for functionality which is not in the most recent version yet?

It's the most recent stable version. We're using the Developer edition, it's already 21. You can install and use it too, but it may have any kind of bugs. Or wait for 21 to reach stability.

I need to reiterate my instructions. For this option there's no need to enable the power user mode, just scroll down the settings page, tick the advanced settings checkbox then tick the "Disable tab bar's top spacing when browser window is maximized" option.
