Hi
Few days back I have installed fedora 23 and opera 32 bit. I tried to install 32 bit java plugin as described at "http://www.opera.com/docs/linux/plugins/install/#java"32 bit java i downloaded as described at :
http://java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml#Java for Linux Platforms
http://www.java.com/en/download/linux_manual.jspopera: opera-12.16-1860.i386.rpm
I followed the same steps for installing 32 bit java plugins for my fedora 17 workstation which is working fine till now. But same steps for fedora 23 workstation not working.
Steps I followed:
- Download and config of java as explained in above links.
- closed opera and restarted it.
- To verify , visit the site http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Its showing "We are unable to verify if Java is currently installed and enabled in your browser."
Please let me know If i am missing something.
Thanks

This is the Windows Opera forum. You will probably have better luck in the Linux area.
Anyway, NPAPI support for Linux was removed with Opera 24. This is because Chrome also removed it and Opera and Chrome share a renderer. Java uses NPAPI. Since the makers of Java refuse to update the Java plugin to the PPAPI you basically can't run Java in any browsers based on the Chromium renderer. Support for NPAPI was dropped because its a huge security problem because its an old standard from the days of Netscape.

Oracle will stop work on it anyway, https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/entry/moving_to_a_plugin_free. Most sites do not use Java nowadays, and those who do will probably get rid of their java applets in favor of modern technology.
