How do I add Foxit to the dropdown list for downloading pdf files

  • Using Opera 12.02, in preferences, downloads, I have set MIME type application/pdf to "show download dialog." When I open a link to a pdf document, I get a dialog box that says "downloading file" and a dropdown box that presents open with Adobe Acrobat and open with "Other application." When I click on "Other application," I get an open dialog box to find the other application.

Sometimes I would like to open pdf files with Foxit reader, and on other times I want to use Acrobat.

How can I add Foxit to the download application list? I assume the specification is somewhere in the .ini files, but I haven't found it.

  • It has nothing to do with Opera or *.ini files.

When you choose "Open with other application" you're using a dialogue created by Windows.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on any PDF file, and select Open With. If Foxit Reader is not on the list, select "Choose default program," and select Foxit Reader. If you don't want to use it as your default PDF viewer, uncheck the box saying, "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."
