This is a fairly obscure problem, but I hope someone may be able to address it. To print to PDF, I use a program called pdfFactory, which installs as a printer. Opera has always printed to it as successfully as any other program has. However, in Opera 32, I find a couple of problems. First, when I print a Web page, the type in the resulting saved PDF file seems extra thick and blurry; the letter "l" is especially thick.

That just makes the PDF a little hard to read. What's worse is that it is impossible to select text when viewing the saved PDF in Acrobat Reader. I click, I hold, I drag, but no selection occurs. The problem is not with my version of Reader (the latest update, XI.0.13), nor is it a matter of document security settings. When I print the same page from IE 11 using pdfFactory and open the saved document in Reader, the type is clean and easy to read, and text can be selected and copied to the clipboard. When I open both saved documents in Reader, their security settings are identical, including Content Copying: Allowed.

BTW, the same problems occur when I open a file saved from Opera 32 through pdfFactory in Opera itself: text cannot be selected; yet while using Opera 32 to read PDFs that were not created from within Opera 32, it is possible to select text.

It seems that there may be some problem with the data that Opera 32 sends to a PDF-creating virtual printer. Has anyone else experienced such problems (no matter what software you use)?

Is it possible that (under Opera) you have accidentally configured pdfFactory to output image, not text? I don't have it here and can't see its print preferences page, but I think PDF creator apps have option to 'print text as graphics' or similar.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked it out, and it isn't really possible to configure this aspect of pdfFactory within Opera. I did try increasing the DPI from 600x600 to 1200x1200, with no effect. In any case, I find that with pages that contain both images and text, the images in the saved PDF file can be selected and copied to the clipboard, just not text. I.e., Acrobat Reader recognizes a difference between text and image in the document, but can't select any text.
