Localised Spell Checking

Whenever I install Opera somewhere, the default spell checker is automatically set to United States English. As a person coming from Europe, this is very frustrating, especially when installing Opera on many systems. The formal usage of United States spelling is not universal at all, and actually seems focused on United States users.
In all of the European Union it is nowadays common practise to use UK spelling, which is illustrated by the style-guide of the European Eunion on English usage.
To analyse the need for change, it would be interesting to know where Opera users are coming from (in absolute numbers, not the relative statistics I can find everywhere on the internet).
In case it turns out that a lot of English Opera users are not coming from the United States, would it be possible to change the default spelling? Could Opera install itself with a spelling package matching the region of where it is installed? Or would it be feasible to give the option of localisation already during installation?
Looking forward!

Right, "practise" as a noun is American spelling.

O'k, I won't be a silly Josh then, and I messed that up: Americans use the same noun form for the verb, not the other way round.
