Is there a way to silently install opera on OSX so that no user interaction is required? We're trying to provision OSX VMs dynamically with Opera without user involvement.

Yes, this is possible - with the standard installer from http://www.opera.com, run it on the command line using the option --silent. Like this:

Opera\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera\ Installer --silent
