Opera battery life mode

I have been using Opera for a while and recently switched to MAc from Windows. I note that on OS X it seems to eat the battery.
Reluctantly Ive been using Safari instead when out and about but it is a pain switching between browsers and not sure whether to use Safari entirely.
What would be good is an automatic battery saver mode that kicks in when it detects it is on battery. Does anyone know if there are plans to achieve somehting like htis ? or a plugin that could perhaps?

Hi @malkyr and welcome to Opera on Mac! If you haven't already, make sure that you're up to date with Opera 31 (released this week, you should get the update automatically), which contains several improvements to battery life on OS X. The next version, Opera 32, will contain further enhancements, hopefully getting Opera much closer to Safari in terms of battery life.

Thanks for the update - Im on Opera 31.0 just downloading 31.0.1889.99
A super slimmed down energy saver mode would be great for use on the road anyway but good to hear that you are working on the battery life!
