Opera Mail vs Opera Web Browser Mail

I am running Opera 12.15 on OpenSUSE 13.2. The browser, however, is now failing at odd times because of updated and unsupported page content in this version. I wish to keep the mail client, as I have a dozen years of emails and a number of POP3 accounts. Is the new version of Opera Mail compatible with the file structure of the old client? Or is there a conversion utility to make it so? Are there any migration instructions for such a change?

New version? Unfortunately, they have never released a version of Opera Mail for Linux. The Windows version was easy enough (for Opera for Windows) - just copy the entire mail directory along with contacts.adr - but not sure how that would translate if you're going to try using the Windows version under wine or some such.

Thanks. I'd made an assumption that since they'd released a browser for Linux they would have done something similar for the mail client. I'll check out Wine, but even if it works, it's not an optimum solution. Maybe have to bite the bullet and try something different. Thanks again.

In Opera 12, in the advanced settings, you should be able to goto "protocols" and add/edit the http and https protocols to open with the browser of your choice. Then, just use Opera as just a mail client and links in messages will load up in your browser when you click on them.
Mail in Opera 12 is better than in the standalone anyway as the standalone is unfinished and missing a bunch of settings.
The only downside to doing the protocol thing in Opera 12 is that iframes in feed messages will launch their sources in your browser instead of inside mail. If you don't use feeds though, you should be good to go.
