      Hi.
This weekend I decided to put Safari, Opera beta and Chrome to the test in terms of energy usage.
I was surprised with 2 things:

      1. Chrome improved dramatically from previous versions being neck to neck with Safari maybe even slightly better.
      2. Opera beta uses a lot more energy than its sibling Chrome.

Does anyone know if this is some feature Chrome has and Opera is still implementing or is this some kind of different approach Chrome has that Opera will never do?
      Thanks.

Hi @prod75, all the Chrome changes to improve energy consumption are in the engine, which Opera uses, so there shouldn't be a big difference. How did you measure energy usage?

I have to be honest, I did not do a very scientific measurement.
What I did was open the exact same websites on Safari, Chrome and Opera. I kept all windows visible and opened Activity Monitor and looked at the current consumption values. The differences there are indeed significant.
Then I minimized all of them, as they tend to go into "low power" mode when minimized and also there I noticed differences.
I have no problem in doing the same test and post here pictures to show you what I saw.

Could it be that Chrome has some flags enabled that might influence this and Opera not?

          Thanks.
