Since upgrading to Windows 10, Opera has been almost unusable. It takes about a minute to load, and using speed dial to browse sites takes 20 seconds (on average) to display the site!
I am seriously thinking of dropping Opera altogether!
The browser has never worked properly since I first installed it a few years ago, there has always been something that doesn't work, and I kept hoping that things would improve given time. But now I have finally lost my patience with this browser, even though it shows great promise it never delivers!
Is there a simple fix for this slowdown please?

Have you tried doing a full and complete uninstall and reinstall?

Maybe you have some 'whiz-bang runs in Real Time all the time' AV/Malware program that has to scan each file as the browser opens?

It's a wonderful browser...I'm running '33 Goof-Proof.... Although I don't use Speed Dial [just bookmarks], and no AV/Malware program [except the Full Body Intenet Condom called Sandboxie]

Take a peek into the Slower-Downers and good luck.

giz-78: You hit the nail on the head, it was Windows Defender that was causing the slowdown. I have excluded the Opera Browser from being scanned, and the problem is solved!
