Last build of Opera Dev seems to be crashing. Can't even open it. Running on Win10 technical preview build 10166.

          New Opera beta 31.0.1889.92 πŸ˜‰

The change log, and the announcement.

"We are getting closer to releasing Opera 31 as a stable build, but before that we wanted to give you another beta build, to ensure that everything is OK. There were two Chromium updates since the last beta build, and the current version is 44.0.2403.89. This build also has two crashes fixed, updated translations and some other improvements/bug fixes. For the detailed list of changes, check our changelog."

Hi Opera. Thanks for the update here. Do you have any idea when videos like this one will be playable on Windows 7, 32-bit systems? Thank you, again. http://shoebat.com/2015/06/03/breaking-cnn-reports-pamela-geller-target-of-beheading-attack-then-asks-her-if-she-relishes-being-the-target/
Other browsers on my system that play this video with no hitches at all are Vivaldi, Chrome, Firefox, PaleMoon, and Internet Explorer. None of the most recent versions of Opera (that includes Stable, Beta, and Developer) play this video or others like it. Why not? I've been asking this question for 4 weeks now with no answer.
If I right-click on the video display image at this website and click on "View frame source" and examine the source code, I do find this link which does play fine in Opera when I copy and paste this link into another tab: https://d2ha22j8ys3e0o.cloudfront.net/vmplayer/player.swf?video_id=2421779&domain=vid.me&c=598-1-9-4 ... hopefully, somebody can troubleshoot this.

It's July 24, 2015 and these issues remain unresolved in fully updated Opera Stable, Beta, and Developer for my Windows 7 32-bit system.

The H.264/MP4 video at http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html does not play here in any of the current Opera branches available on my Windows 7 32-bit system, either.

I'm hoping one day that Opera's issues with such videos will be resolved. I really want to use Opera exclusively but have to fall back to other browsers which have no such issues all too commonly.

Hi treego, both videos are playing without any problems with Opera 31 beta (31.0.1889.92) on my Windows 8.1 32bit system.
Maybe its a problem with Windows 7?

New update for the Opera beta 31.0.1889.98, the change log, and the announcement πŸ˜‰

"Yet another (hopefully last) update for beta stream. It has updated Chromium to version 44.0.2403.107 and some other fixes, along with a fix for a nasty crash, that was spotted by some of you (kudos to Vux777 and jho!)."

The Opera 31 has been promoted to the stable channel: 31.0.1889.99 πŸ˜‰

The change log, and the announcement: "Opera 31 speeds up".

"The most import change we’re introducing in Opera 31 is its startup time. Opera for computers now starts up to 70% faster in comparison to previous versions. This is especially important and helpful for devices with slower, traditional hard drives.

                    Discover gets a makeover

We redesigned pages in Opera for computers so everything looks nice and modern. In Opera 31, Discover gets a better layout. Discover is a feature that serves you the most recent content from your region. You can also customize it by choosing topic category or country.

                    and more…

We are working on improved synchronization, with additional options, across your devices. This release synchronizes typed history between your desktop devices. Now you can get to your history faster."

Hi @treego, maybe this tip will help you to fix the problem in your case: "If you have one of the special regional N/K/KN versions then use this link WMP for N-K-KN editions - download Media Feature Pack - Microsoft Download Center" - the source link.

I have no idea what you mean by "N/K/KN versions." If you could help explain that a little more, I can confirm one way or the other on that. Thank you. πŸ™‚

Hi @treego, "N and KN editions. The features in the N and KN Editions are the same as their equivalent full versions, but do not include Windows Media Player or other Windows Media-related technologies, such as Windows Media Center and Windows DVD Maker due to limitations set by the European Union.[16] The cost of the N and KN Editions are the same as the full versions, as the Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N or Windows 7 KN can be downloaded without charge from Microsoft." - the source link.

Poorly and in a disgusting way, this sharp white hospital background and an ugloplitochny look killed the best browser. Continuous ugliness. Such ugliness could be made and without removal of this control opera://flags/#experimental-start-page., was to establish a visual laying of Yandex in the Opera enough and you would receive such poverty.

bring back opera://flags/#experimental-start-page or provide another method to achieve speed dial icon resizing please!

31.0.1889.99 is bad news, as even more configurability has now been removed. Opera has been gradually stripping away all that made Opera different and better. The last straw for me, is that I can't live without the ability to change the size of my speed dial icons. So I'm reverting to an older version until that facility is included. Either that or I'll have to start looking into other browsers.

I am glad to hear it is working for you. I have Windows 7 Starter; I guess Opera just doesn't play videos well with this OS. After months here in the forums and blogs' comments section and just recently addressing it with @opera on Twitter, nobody has a cure, it seems. That's too bad.

Hi @treego, have you tried to install the "Media Feature Pack for Windows 7", which I mentioned in my previous comment, here?

Perhaps the problem in your case is as follows: the WMP is already installed in your Windows, but its installation does not include the multimedia libraries, which are used by Opera to replay videos using the H.264 codec?
