On a similar note, in O12, there was a search box to the right of the address, if I wanted to do a search using one of my predefined search engines (let's say Amazon) all I had to do was enter the search term, and click the down arrow and click on the Amazon search to go to amazon and the search is done.

In O30, how do I do something like that without having to remember ALL the search engines I have defined with one or two letters and enter those letters before the search term in the address bar?? Is there a search bar anywhere in O30, and why must I remember all those, or do I have to find an extension that will do what O12 did internally??

You've been looking at it the whole time. When you start typing in the address bar the bar expands. On the bottom of the bar on the right you will see icons of every search engine you have defined in Opera. Clicking on an icon will make it use that search engine when you hit enter.

Not so fast, yes I see that expanded bar, but it has maybe 3 more search engines that I use (the other are default engines as defined by Opera, which I totally never use, but my predfined search pages has at least 15 and more. For instance, when I highlight a text in a page and right click and use the "Search With" option, THEN I have my ENTIRE list of my search engines as defined in the Settings.

So your suggestion is something I overlooked, but it is totally insufficient for my searching needs.

I ended up adding the "Search Center" extension, which does exactly what I want in as many search page I define for it.

Then your "needs" are greater than Opera at present provides. Translation: find another browser that currently meets your needs.

No need for snide comments, I was simply asking politely for help; your attitude is uncalled for.

Google is by far the most complete search engine available. Your "needs" surely are not greater than what Google can provide. Furthermore, you have Bing, DuckDuckGo, Amazon, Wikipedia and Yahoo. So ... what search engine is it that Opera lacks that is so essential for your "needs"???

Well, I don't have as many search engines as the guy above but I several that aren't in the default. In addition I remove several of the built in ones I don't use. Still, I have ten total and they all display.

                    chucker98,

There are many pages that I visit, many torrent sites, many pages like ebay.es and Amazon.uk, IMDB, many movie subtitle search pages, many book review pages that have search boxes on them, including pages that offer you the chances to search for medicines, legal briefs etc etc. I search for music all the time on web sites that have search boxes on their home page.

For you to suggest that Google then could satisfy those kinds of specific searches for special items that reside on many web sites that have search boxes on their home page, then you must be ignorant of the possibilities that often are looked for by many intelligent surfers....which obviously does not include you.

Opera 12 had the option to custom add a search on a page by simply placing your text icon in the search box and right clicking, and Opera would add that page with its search function. Enter your search term and click on the drop down box that specified what page you wanted to do the searching...and not only would O12 take you there but enter the search term in the search box and display the results...THAT is something that I personally sorely miss in O30

Maybe your "needs" are not as extensive as mine, but does that make me the object of the kind of ridicule you are trying impart here.

Get a life. And get off your "whining" accusations aimed at folks here who have used Opera for years and years who are simply looking for direction. Learn some manners.

Well, I don't know what to tell you. Obviously there is a limit as to how much they will put in the drop down bar. Probably to make it fit for people on lower resolutions. There might be an extension out there that solves your issue but I don't know of one off hand. I guess you'll just have to memorize the letters of the search engines you've defined. Maybe preface them with a letter and a number. Like, if you have three search engines you use to find subtitles you could label them 's1', s2' and 's3', or something like that.

Appreciate the kind input, in fact I DID find an extension::
