I used Opera Stable 29 (29.0.1795.60) on Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.3). If I add the new webpage to Speed Dial by right click on this webpage, the thumbnail of this webpage is not shown. Show URL image. But if I add the new webpage to Speed Dial by "♡"(heart mark) button on addressbar, the thumbnail of this webpage is shown. Not show URL image.

Incidentally on Opera Stable 29 for Mac, Reload menu is not shown in right click on Speed Dial image. → http://photozou.jp/photo/show/124201/223239715

So I can't reload and add the image of Speed Dial by right click!

I'm using windows, but it should be the same...
to have reload on right click thumbnails menu, you need to disable this flag
        opera://flags/#experimental-start-page
this will revert to old style speed dial
to choose which thumbnail you want to use for any bookmark (including speed dial items), you visit that page and from heart menu choose desired thumbnail
note popup in stable channel looks little different

ps. looks like choosing thumbnail from heart menu works only with experimental start page (not with old speed dial thumbnails)
        it's confusing 🙂

@vux777 Thank you for replying! I'm glad to solve some issues about Speed Dial! I become to be able to change the size of thumbnail and reload thumbnail. And the thumbnail is shown by adding by right click! 🙂

btw. old style speed dial is much slower on session start
            at least on my machine
it loads thumbnails one by one...very annoying

The old style SD option will disappear as soon as Opera 30 goes stable.

Back to the idiocy of big URLs instead of thumbnails. Opera's project never seemed so confusing and counterintuitive to me (various issues in general, not only in this particular aspect being discussed in this topic).

No one wants those URLs in the Speed Dial. No one!

what happened to that logo-targeting algorithm?
or at least iOS favicons 48x48 px (or more)
from all the solutions they choose the worst one

I've moved to Vivaldi. Opera finally managed to drive me away. This and other *things are plain bullshit.

-When I was starting the browser all my thumbnails were being shown as URLs before they were switched to thumbnail view. Very annoying.

-No quick reload but a painful, frustrating and a no sane sense way to change the thumbnails of the Speed Dial items.

-No transparency and too much white overall.

-Performance of moving items in Speed Dial and in Bookmarks was piss-poor, stuttering, heavy CPU usage etc.

-Where were the promised Sort options for Bookmarks? After the layoff of the Oslo team the browser is abandoned. Spare builds, only Chromium updates.

TL:DR They 've been messing around with the Speed Dial for 3 years. At least they have finally destroyed it.

I find the new block-colour URL style speed dial HORRIBLE. Not least, if I have several different pages from any one website (eg, BBC News, BBC Cricket, BBC Weather, BBC Travel) - where they previously had obviously different thumbnails, they now all look the same.

It's a CRAZY way to have ruined what was, for me, one of Opera's best features.

I am rapidly going off Opera, after having been a user ever since you had to PAY for it.
