Everything I do, open settings window, open bookmarks, search, clicking on bookmarks or my dashboard take forever to load.
When I have a site open, google or anything surfing through it, the behavior is normal.Deactivated all extensions, nothing. I deleted all settings and started fresh, nothing.
Drives me crazy.
Opera 29.0.1795.47, Mac OS 10.10.3

Wow! OK, that's quite serious. We haven't seen that on any of our systems here, but can you help us reproduce it? Here's some information that might help:
- Which Mac ("About this Mac") and / or GPU are you using?
- Does anything change if you try disabling hardware acceleration (in Opera's Preferences, enable 'Advanced settings' and then search for 'hardware acceleration'?
- Any interesting messages from Opera in your Console?
- Any third-party software or drivers you can think of on your system that can be disabled to see if it has any effect?

Nothing changed between Opera 28 and the 29 update. I have the latest cuda drivers installled but there was no update, there was no system update either, except the 10.10.3 one, but thats weeks back.Opera Helper has some entries in the log:

Hi! What about me, I'm not using VPN nor Adium. By the way, today opera seem to work well. I've made bo changes in the PC configuration.

I think you might be experiencing a different problem (although you can never be sure), can you ask on the Windows forum? You might get more help there.

No VPN or Adium here
Can you try this:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist
Right after doing this, restart or start Opera. Does it make a difference? If not, are there any messages in your Console from discoveryd after doing the restart?
It seems you have a system that was upgraded from 10.9 to 10.10. It also seems like your system still has mDNSresponder running or some files left behind (this was replaced by discoveryd in 10.10).

Quit Opera, run the command, thats what happend. It ist not making a huge difference, it's a little better, maybe a few milliseconds. But not as fast as compared to Opera 28.

I use opera as my main browser on mac, because safar sometimes doesnt load some content, i was very pleased the way opera was functioning, i have it installed in all my devices even on android, but the last version really went wrong somehow, the 28 version is perfect in speed battery usage and all, another thing is that the autoupdate feature should be removed or give the user a chance to disable it.
I hope these things could be fix it in the next updates because i really like your software.
Keep it up.

@hummerds, can you see if you have these files somewhere on your system:
com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist com.apple.mDNSResponderHelper.plist
If you do, could you try moving them to somewhere where the system won't try reading them (eg. just a new directory you create somewhere) and restart your system to see if it makes a difference?

Nope, can't find dem anywhere.
Looked in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons and everywhere, nothing.Finder Search (with hidden files) turned up nothing, too.

I have a similar issue with Opera 29 that didn't exist in Opera 28. There is nothing in the console messages and I do not have mDNS running, only discoveryd even though this Mac was upgraded from 10..9 to 10.10 and is currently running a beta of 10.10.4, but I had this issue under 10.10.3 public release as well. It is a late 2013 15" MacBook Pro Retina with 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, quad core 2.6GHz i7 and Nvidia GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of RAM. I couldn't use QuickTime to make a video as it would not display the spinning color wheel in the video, so it had to be recorded externally. The CPU was 80% or higher for the idle process and the RAM was had around 6GB free and no swap was used.
Here is a video of the spinning wheel:
