That would be your cache. Every web page you visit has to be stored somewhere, that place is your HD.

I don't think so. I don't visit 80Gb pages per a week. This should be streamed video at least...
I just have Opera always opened at the background. There are a lot of opened pages, I believed they automatically reload
ofter but I have only 300 MB downloaded in 11 days, according to wifi info. I have restarted Opera with the newwest update, just about half an hour ago and it has already written 1GB and keeps writing about 30-50 Kb. each second.

Disable all your extensions and restart. Any change?

I don't have any extensions, at least registered on extensions page. I believe I have installed only Adobe Flash, but I cannot see it there.

Well, I'm not experiencing any read/write issues. I currently have 3 windows up with about 25 tabs spread across them and the read/write state of my SSD is flat at zero. Thats my OS and Application drive and it is where Opera is installed and its cache is located. So, whatever you are experiencing is not normal Opera behavior.

I'd try closing tabs and checking your system to see if it goes away when a specific website is closed. Either that or go into Opera menu > Developer > Task manager and add the different chase types to the display and see if anything funky is going on.

Thanks, I did not know about Task manager in Opera but unfortunately it does not show the disk activity.
Anyway, according to Windows Task manager the Opera itself produces the disk activity.

It doesn't show activity but it does show how large the cache for each process Opera is running at the time. Perhaps you can use it to see if one of your processes has an abnormally large impact for some reason.

Also, did you try closing tabs one by one to see if that effected anything?

There is an excellent set of utilities available from Microsoft called Sysinternals. Years ago they were an independent project but over time the utils became so good that MSFT hired the author, made him one of their top TechNet technical evangelists, and bought the code.

Between ProcessMonitor, DiskMon, and ProcessExplorer, you should be able to track down what is doing your read/write activity.

                    http://www.sysinternals.com

Also see and check out the utilities from NirSoft.

                      1. You downloaded 300, but it's written 8G. How come?
                      2. I remember a topic with a local storage issue. A particular site was the culprit.

hey, its i think a bug in new Opera. I like Opera 12. You can disable CACHE there and no problem with briking your SSD. I think you should go with firefox now - I think you can there disable cache on disk without aany of magic voodoo recipes like it now by chromium, newest opera etc...or go to old Operea 12...but i would go with firefox with disabled disk cache or even with chromium with run string --disk-cache-dir="nothing"...or stay with old good op12 - for me its enough advanced and works everything what I need. Bye.

This is exactly the issue I have with one of the large Swedish news sites. If I go to www.dn.se, Opera (28.0.1750.48 atm.) keeps writing to local storage over and over and over. I cannot see any similar behavior in Firefox.
