Ok. I managed update -> 25. I just find it security risk that we 10.6.8 users cant get updates to Opera.

Please see the OS X 10.6 deprecation announcement for details.

You're using an OS which receives no more security updates for more than a year. Unnecessarily so! Because the update to OS X 10.9 is free.

It makes no sense for companies to support old unsupported OS versions, they'd have to deal with legacy APIs or other issues unnecessarily only because you don't want to updade?

Do you have issues performing the update?

There are older Macs cannot update past 10.6 (missing 64-bit support), so there is a good reason some people stay on 10.6.

However, as said, Opera can't support 10.6 users forever: it would mean new features can't be properly implemented (Apple introduces newer features with each version of the OS, features that Opera is expected to use) or need alternative implementations, so supporting an extra OS version means both development and testing overhead. At some point we have to make the decision to stop supporting an older OS, and in this case that's what happened for 10.6. Sorry old Mac users!

I just find it security risk that we 10.6.8 users cant get updates to Opera.

Well, Apple doesn't provide security updates for 10.6 anymore either, so you're at risk either way 😞

I been using Macbook Air 2010 since it was released. It works nice with 10.6.8 so I havent update OSX. Also been using Opera ages, I used it with Windows since early versions. Some day I need update my Macbook to newer version too. Just hope that I could still use Opera since that day comes.

I also have Google Chrome installed. It says Versio 41.0.2272.76 (64-bit). How Google Chrome can be 64bit, but Opera not?

I'm using an early '09 MacBook, in addition to two Mac Minis. MacBook has Leopard 10.5.8 and whatever Opera version it is stuck with and no problems. One Mac Mini has Snow Leopard 10.6.8, no problems with whatever Opera version it's stuck with. Occasional freeze, but I get that on any browser and have to restart. And a brand new sucky mid grade Mac Mini and just accidentally upgraded to Opera 28 before reading about problems. Really no working problems with it yet, but we'll see. Been using Opera since 2003 or 2004.
Seems to me that attacks would be aimed at newer versions since most people don't stick with older machines and browsers like I do. Maybe.

Hi: I see people talking about Opera support for Snow Leopard. FYI, security know-it-alls, there are 10's of millions using 10.6.8 because they don't want the non-Steve Jobs OS with the Pink Elephant OS running in the background on THEIR computer. But, that's not what this comment is about. I can't find an earlier Opera download (24 or 25) on Opera's previous versions webpage, I only see archival stuff like v. 12? Where are the others?
                        Can anyone help?
                        (P.S. I don't want to go to a 3rd party site )
