What's up with those versions? I don't get it... 12.x vs 2x.x?

12.x is not based on Chromium? Why such a difference in versioning?
And where is 27.x for Debian i386?
Best regards,

2x.x is new Opera, the first version number of new Opera was 15.0.
i386? 32bit? Wait some months or longer. I dont know if they really will release a 32bit version in near future. And Debian?
Opera 27 only runs on Debian 8 x64 Testing. -

12.x is based on Opera's own rendering engine, Presto and is completely different browser. The first Chromium/Blink version was 15 and was source of great frustration to many long time users.

So what is this: http://pkgs.org/debian-ubuntu/opera-i386/opera-next_12.16.1860_i386.deb.html ? Some fake? Opera Next = Chromium isn't it?

Opera 12.x and earlier (Presto-based versions) were available in both i386 and amd64. Next was the unstable builds, and continued to be so for some time after the switch to Chromium.
The first public Chromium-based build for Linux was Opera Developer 24.0.1537.0, builds prior to that are Windows or Mac only. So there was over a year in which the Linux versions received no update. The first actual stable release for Linux was Opera 26.0.1656.0.
They may eventually release another i386 build (based on Chromium also), but I don't know when.
