Evidently a few still insist that Opera will somehow reverse all engines and head back into oblivion with an updated Presto. It's not going to happen. Presto is effectively dead in the water and what remains while still functional will soon be dead so isn't it time to learn to adapt and move with the times?

People will use Opera 12 till nothing will display in it. Look, there are still people using Firefox 3, why would you even think that everyone will move to something that is really buggy, unpolished and overall inferior in features? -

I just want a browser that has a left side panel that stays put that shows all my millions of bookmarks so I can easily click on them when I want to. Also I really liked the old Opera feature where you could click on the left side margin and make the side panel disappear and then appear again. Put those features in the new Opera, please. Otherwise I don't see what it's good for. Might as well use Chrome, no? I think many people feel this way..

Panels are a thing of the past. Suites are a thing of the past (i.e. integrated mail client). People who continue to use FF 3 are quite frankly... idiots. No doubt there are several thousand still using Netscape and there's equally no doubt that most of those boxes have been severely compromised. A few thousand who cling to the past is meaningless in terms of the millions who have already embraced the new browser. Hey, if running an old browser floats your boat, then more power to you. I have no vested interest one way or the other. In other words, I don't care what you choose to use. But I do care that you clog up a help forum with useless threads. This forum is for those seeking help. If you want to offer suggestions, make them in the Suggestion box folder. If you want to make comments about the forum, put them into the forum feedback folder. But starting useless threads in which you demean Opera developers, call them juvenile names, tell us you're going to leave for another browser (... then leave... why make an overly dramatic soapbox speech?), all of this simply detracts from the intent of the forum - to HELP those who have SPECIFIC needs with their browser.

On a forum can also write your disappointment. And it does, is an idiot? Also, I'm going to Chrome Opera, if it contains largely the most features of Opera 12. Sometime it is in version 40 or 50+

Another one-timer who signed up to tell us he's leaving. Whatever. If you have disappointments, put your suggestions in the Suggestion Box. Crying and wringing your hands here doesn't do anyone any good (unless this is some sort of psychological release for you). It's a browser not a way of life. Get a grip.

It is useless to use old software for one simple reason: you don't have support and it will not be compatible with new technologies.

Using old, unsupported software is foolish. I understand that hardware can dictate what software will run, however... people using FF 3 are simply asking for trouble. And the same will eventually go for Opera Presto so in that regard we were on topic. No, Opera Presto is not there... yet. But eventually it will be so continuing to look for workarounds is only delaying the inevitable.

It was started a year ago by @werewolf, who was then consciously seeking a best "old" version of Opera. After some dialogue which seemed to answer his and others' questions, the OP indicated he had (re?)installed 12.16 and seemed quite pleased (https://forums.opera.com/post/25416_15005072 ). A month later, the OP indicated he was using Firefox as main browser, with Chrome as secondary, and Opera 12.16 as a kind of unused backup. Then, a few days ago, the OP posted that Firefox was crashing his system lately and (again) asked where he could download Opera 12.16, along with a query about which browsers had good sidebar features (https://forums.opera.com/post/58963_15200116 )... whereupon the thread dialogue led to the OP (apparently?) updating 12.16 to 12.17 (https://forums.opera.com/post/58977_15200131 ). Then the OP posted that he wants "a browser that has a left side panel that stays put that shows all my millions of bookmarks" (https://forums.opera.com/post/59069_15200225 ). Thereafter, a series of rancorous posts by various folks followed.
My current question for the OP: the thread was initiated regarding the "best" version of (presumably) "old" Opera, and that appears to have been answered several times... so, do you have any further questions along that line? If not, then this thread would seem to have served its originally-stated purpose and perhaps should be closed.

What's wrong with your links?
It's still time to edit...The underscore character ahead of the comment number doesn't render properly in this version of Markdown, at least for the FF browser I'm currently using.
