cant enable toolbar or place home button on Opera

I just installed opera and am using for first time
I cant seem to enable toolbar, I click the opera logo to customize opera but cant find preferences or tools
to help access those kind of settings.I went to the opera help section
everything they told me to do is not available or the solutions seem to be missing[Moderator note: closed as duplicate of https://forums.opera.com/post/38621 access it for more info/updates.]

You're probably looking at help information for Opera versions prior to version 15, which are completely different.
There is no traditional toolbar in Opera now, as there isn't in Google Chrome.
What you see if you click on the Opera logo top left is all that there is now I'm afraid.

how do I set a home button
they have to provide that option all web browsers do? -

There is no traditional home button as such.
The nearest is that you can set Opera to open with a particular page instead of the default Speed Dial start page.
Not really what you want I realise, and it is one of the things that is slightly puzzling that Opera have presumably decided not to include.
