Opera 12.17 Not Responding and Running Slow

I'm currently running Opera version 12.17 and I've been getting a lot of "not responding" errors and running slow. I find this is happening a lot ESPECIALLY when I am viewing videos or flash heavy objects. Whenever I open a new video the browser locks up. I don't want to update to Opera 22 because it strip mines all the features from Opera that I love. I cleared my cash and limit the storage, and still get errors. Does anyone have any tips? I really don't want to drop Opera. I find myself using Maxthon or Chrome a lot more especially when dealing with certain websites.

Did you go with your Opera 12.17 to the Adobe Flash website and upgrade to the latest version? Having the latest version in another browser doesn't mean you have it in Opera.
