Browser Assistant, what is that?

I don't know what else to call it other than bloatware but one of the recent previous updates auto installed something called the 'Opera GX Browser Assistant" that auto runs on startup in the background even if I never open Opera. Every time there is a new update I have to go and turn it off again. I have no clue if there is a way to uninstall it or not and if there is I don't know how to. Also I love Opera but I have moved mainly to Brave because Opera takes up a ton more memory which sucks when gaming.

@albatross1159 I use OperaGX as so the browser is as light as possible if I'm gaming. And if I'm playing something I need to hear, I do not want it to hang about in the background too. Please Opera team, hear our pleas...

Topic: Permanently Removing the Opera GX Browser Assistant
The Opera GX Browser Assistant is a background component included with browser updates. Its purpose is to display desktop notifications and facilitate faster browser startup. Because the standard auto-updater reinstalls this program with every browser update, disabling it via the Task Manager does not prevent it from reappearing.
To retain the main browser while permanently removing the Assistant component, use the following two-step procedure:
- Delete the File Directory: Press the Windows Key + R simultaneously, input %LocalAppData%\Programs\Opera, and click OK. Locate and completely delete the folder named "assistant".
- Disable the Scheduled Task: Open the Windows Task Scheduler, locate the entry named "Opera scheduled assistant Autoupdate," and change its status to Disabled. This prevents the update process from reinstalling the component during future browser updates.
Alternatively, if the Opera browser is no longer required on the system, the entire application can be removed via "Uninstall a program" within the Windows Control Panel.
