Here are a bunch of things you can try if you want:

Goto the URL opera://settings/privacy and disable the 2 promotional options.

Goto the URL opera://settings/privacy/consentFlow and disable the 4 options there.

Goto the URL opera://settings/startPage, disable the 2 continue shopping options, news, speed dial suggestions and content picks (if it's there).

Goto the URL opera://settings/enhancedAddressBar and disable promotional suggestions.

Goto the URL opera://settings/clearBrowserData, switch to "advanced", set the time range to "all time", check only "browsing history", "download history", "cookies and other site data" and "cached images and files" and delete the data. You'll be logged out of all sites.

Then goto the URL opera://extensions and remove (don't just disable) all of your extensions.

Then, goto the URL opera://serviceworker-internals and click "unregister" for every entry there (don't worry if some come back).

Then, on the start page, delete any Amazon speed dials, goto the URL opera://bookmarks and empty the bookmarks trash. Then, click the + on the start page and add https://www.amazon.com/?custom.

Then, goto the URL opera://about, take note of both the "profile" and "cache" paths and close Opera.

Then, in the profile folder, delete the "History" file, the "Cookies" file in the "Network" folder and every folder that has "cache" somewhere in its name. In the cache folder, delete the "cache" and "system cache" folders.

Then, if on Windows at least, in settings in Windows, goto "Network & Internet -> Proxy", make sure there's no proxy defined and enabled and make sure "Automatically detect settings" is disabled.

Then, scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner.

                  Then, restart your computer.

Then, start Opera and try browsing Amazon to see if it still happens. If not, then log in to amazon.com and see if it starts happening then.

You can also try to see if it happens in a test standalone installation with default settings and then with the previously-mentioned settings disabled.

as far as I am concerned the issue is resolved. get rid of the refresher eliminated the problem. Now I use one called Super Easy Auto Refresh and have not experiences the problem again.

Not a tech wiz....but did all of the long suggestions -- and, checked for Auto Refresh extension (which never had). Now can get to Amazon, and enter name, password, get sent a code to enter, and then the same darn message appears!!

I have never had the auto-refresh page extension, and am having the same problem. However, if If I right-click on the same link and click "Open In New Tab", it goes to the correct page. It's only in Opera, Chrome works fine.

Update: I installed "Super Auto Refresh", as suggested by some other members. but the problem continues...
