@hotsteppa: i think google makes changes in waves to make ppl think its fake that it stopped working

Seriously the only time I had trouble was when you tube started all that crap since I clicked the auto update in the UBLOCK settings Ive had no trouble since of I do I just refresh page or wait for UBLOCK to update itself🤞

Glad to hear it's working smoothly now! UBLOCK's auto-update feature really helps avoid those issues.

it hasn't been working very well lately, rarely blocks stuff as of the last few days. you should probably check up on that and please fix it.

My version of uBlock Origin is dated

              Version 1.65.0
              Last update 18 Jul 2025

Yet I did not update it and do not have auto update on.

The version installed does not work, it no longer blocks anything and I can't access the dashboard.

When I press the icon on the toolbar it shows and empty box as per image below.

When I try to right click and choose options I get a blank tab load.

When I try to press the icon it is as if the usual drop down options were going to load but are rapidly replaced by this smaller empty box.

              alt text

I can't see a way to roll back to the previous version, if anyone knows a way to roll back and lock it at that version I would be grateful for details

@fckopera If you really want an old version go to github.com/gorhill/uBlock and manually download 1.64.0 (or whatever other version you want) by going to the releases section and downloading it.
then unzip it in file explorer.
then go to opera://extensions and turn on developer mode (top right) and then press "unpack extension" and open the unzipped folder but you need to go one folder deeper, (if you don't, it won't load)

@kiquja Click on the UBO icon on the extension bar (assuming it is visible at the right top corner of the browser, then look for triple gear icon which is for settings. If the uBlock Origin icon is not visible then hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys then press E on the keyboard. Then locate UBO on the extension list and then click on the Options under UBO. Go through the options under the "Settings" and the "Filters Lists" tabs.

Most importantly, keep uBlock Origin up to date. major browser update can break its auto update function especially is there is a major update to the browser and it is not compatible with the current version of uBO.

Another fact Opera users need to keep in mind is, unlike Brave or Firefox, most other mainstream browsers including Opera are using Chromium engine which no thanks to Google, has been slowly but surely getting pushed with Manifest V3 rules the last year so eventually uBO will not work right or at all with Chromium based browsers like Opera/Edge/Chrome/Vivaldi. What you need to do is, swap uBlock Origin with uBlock Origin Lite which is supported by Manifest V3. This version of uBlock is not quite as configurable or effective as the uBO but it will not likely to have any issues either.

My current primary browser is Brave and I am using uBlock Origin Lite and no issues on YouTube.

You don't really have a lot of choice but to wait, but if you want a more interesting project to eliminate YT ads I saw a post on the forum of OpenWrt, it is an open source router firmware based on Linux, they were looking to eliminate in the router so they never get to your device.

There appear to be several different solutions relying on 3rd party sites for code and testing.
