i was hoping that it would also work with multiple selected tabs, but it doesn't... kinda useless

Click left mouse and Drag has always worked for me to open the current tab in a new Window.

Try this One opens all tabs in new windows by Default. Pity Opera will not expose this feature in the settings like Firefox. or allow user to create custom shortcut keys like Brave
