      Opera Desktop for Windows: 111.0.5168.61
      Windows 10 Professional

I keep installing extension from the Chrome web store and even the Opera store, but they magically disappear the next time I open the browser. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, signed out of sync, tried the same on other computers that do not match my desktop. This is a very annoying bug.

@at2025 try to modify a bookmark or something in the configuration (like theme). I've the same trouble, it look like conf. files are locked.

Don't quite understand what you're asking me to do here. Could you perhaps be a bit more clearer? All of this was working just fine 2 or 3 weeks ago when I last installed some extensions. Very irritating behavior to say the least.

Just uninstalled. Removed all traces of Opera from my desktop. Reinstalled using the latest offline installer. Signed in, loaded everything up. Quit the browser, relaunched it only to find everything wiped, signed out, and as if I just installed the browser doing a constant loop of the splash screen and resetting all settings I'd just set to make it my own.

What is happening? I can't be the only one who's facing this many issues with the last 2 versions. The same behavior is exhibiting itself on fresh VMs aside from other computers. Even if I don't sign in with any credentials. The browser will reset itself automatically.

Edit 2: Reset the browser just to try this out. Still the same behavior. Where can I find the download version from before June so I can install that and have a browser that actually works and that I can block the upgrade mechanism via GPO Editor in Windows so I don't have to deal with these buggy updates from Opera?

@at2025 Add a bookmark, close opera, reopen opera, look if the bookmark is still there.

While Opera is closed, and there are no Opera processes running in the Windows Task Manager, in both "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming" and "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local", right-click on the "Opera Software" folder and goto properties. Then, on the general tab, uncheck the read only box so that it's blank and not highlighted at all (with a check or minus) and click apply. Then, when asked, agree to apply it to the folder itself and all its subfolders and files.

Then, on the "Security" tab in the folders' properties, make sure your username is listed in the "Groups or usernames" field and when you select it, make sure all permissions are set to "allow" (special permissions can be blank and not set to either allow or deny. That's normal.) If you to make a change, make sure you apply it to all subfolders and files too.

Things could have gotten messed up if you ever right-clicked on Opera's shortcut and chose "run as administrator".
