YouTube Videos play audio but video is all black screen

I've been trying our Opera for Mac and am finding it mostly to act farily normally except when it comes to playing YouTube videos.
First, I have tried several of the "suggestions" about turning off hardware acceleration and killing my VPN (which should have zero to do with this since I can use my VPN with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge with absolutely no issues). Wonder why a VPN would be prohibited by Opera? Hmm.
Anyway, I've also cleared my cache (several times) and even re-installed. I chose dark mode and have the web settings to dark mode, but I changed that to see if it made a difference...it didn't.
I haven't installed any plugins. I even went into the area where popups are managed and added Youtube.com to the "allowed" list.
As mentioned earlier, I have no problems whatsoever with Edge, FIrefox or Chrome with or without the VPN on.
Any other ideas on what might be triggering the errant behavior?
