Deinstallation not complete - reinstallation process gets stuck

I'm facing an issue with reinstallation. When I start an installation of Opera I get stuck the moment the red logo appears. I have to close all my apps, clear the cache and delete all data, afterwards the installation continues as expected.
As I see it, there must be some data left from a previous installation. But I don't find a path where this could be stored. I can't even log into my account, as I've mentioned earlier. So I'm writing this from Vivaldi with which I can log into the Opera account. Really so.
I suppose there's some interfering from old, yet not totally completed data which is even stored when you clear the cache. Makes me furious.
