On the Panels, I enjoyed the look (and the display of information it could provide), but it's not essential to me. They could do it as an option if it doesn't impair browser performance or isn't so costly as to be impractical.

It really doesn't have to be in the panel, but I'd very much like the tools that were in the panel to come back - especially Info & Links - handy for development, and even finding hidden links on pages

My biggest want however is DragonFly. The webkit debugger is absolutely horrible, makes my job a pain in the neck. If they ignore every single one of my suggestions, PLEASE consider DragonFly.

They are definitely working on Dragonfly, as they are also working on a Linux version.

As usual, the answer is “They will be released when they are ready.”

Why get rid of Mouse Gestures?

For me, 'Open link in new tab' (or background tab) was the most used feature ever. Opera has had gestures for as long as I remember, and they were the feature that got me using it. Now most of them have gone, and the remainders aren't configurable. It's like they have been purposefully hobbled.

I disagree with operaid69, Opera has got some things right in these latter releases (right-click search opens new tab, links opened in new tabs are adjacent to the old tab). But it is way less usable than 12, for all the reasons that gave it this core following in the first place, and I'm finding it impossible to justify my continued support.

I just downloaded Opera what a waste of time. I have used Firefox for years but with their sudden political statement I no longer wanted to use them. Opera I cannot import bookmarks they don't have a search bar or favorites bar Nothing. Guess I will keep searching for a new browser. Opera you just failed to capitalize on a great opportunity.

I agree they failed to capitalize. Bookmarks are so basic to any browser. Opera claims that only about 10% use bookmarks. I find that really hard to believe. I know many who use browsers, ordinary non-geek users. They all use bookmarks. I should know since I help them often enough with their computer issues.

Its ridiculous that there is no easy way to import bookmarks from other browsers. I refused to use Blink before they added the QAB.

Then when they finally added QAB I found the import for my 2700 bookmarks from Opera 12 did not work well. That ended with a huge messed up weirdly ordered speed dial. I had Firefox as a backup to Opera's Presto so I tried moving the Firefox bookmark file to Opera Blink but found the QAB bookmark ordering to be screwed up. Having read that moving the bookmarks file from Chrome to Opera works well, I installed Chrome, used Chrome to import Firefox's bookmarks and then moved the Chrome bookmarks to the Opera folder. Finally, I had my Opera Blink bookmarks set up the way I needed, in the correct order, and without a screwed up Speed Dial.

michael-nc, I like Tidy Bookmarks (an Opera Exyptension) It suits my purposes, gives me in addition to Opera's personal bookmarks bar (or their alternative bookmarks in the speed dial) a vertical display that shows if you click on the favorites-star icon. There are other choices too in the Opera extension site, and since the Chrome extensions also work for opera, they're a possibility too (in the chrome store) for a bookmark manager. To use a Chrome extension, you need to have the Opera extension, Download Chrome Extension.

I can't tell if this is in here, but how about a "find" functionality? For example, right now it would be handy to be able to search this page for the word find.

Thanks. Now we need documentation, and probably a drop-down for those commonly used features.

                      bangorme,

Check the thread "So Far, Not Impressed." I found a Duck Duck Go search bar for you in the Disconnect Search extension, and posted something about it there.

Ok, I reinstalled the New Opera, Not because I plan to use it, but purely because i like to screw with and tweak software, that what my kind of people do, Now the Biggee, Opera removed Tidy Bookmarks from thier extensions site, Why did they do this ? Most likely the reason is, They Do Not Want You Using Bookmarks, The Only bookmarks extension that actually worked, they removed. Chew on that one for awhile

No, the bookmarks manager extension for Opera works very well. It will even import bookmarks and folders from other web browsers, as long as they are exported to an html file. It isn't perfect. The "managing" of the bookmarks is very clunky and old fashioned. But, it works good enough for me until the functionality is incorporated into Opera.

Thanks. I'll check it out. The duckduckgo opera extension works pretty darn well too. Although I prefer the extension for mozilla better, this extension opens a dedicated search box that is good enough for now. What the heck, it's just one mouse click.

How dare Opera remove Tidy Bookmarks 🙂 What gives here? Thanks, coldwinters. I don't really get it, but I don't see that as a problem because Chrome still has Tidy Bookmarks in their store, so one can get it from there. I could download that one, and delete the Opera one, or just wait a bit. Hmmmm. Hmmmmm. Decisions. Okay, there it is: I deleted the Opera version and installed the Chrome version still in the Chrome store. It looks exactly the same as what I had.

                              https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/Tidy Bookmarks?hl=en-US

It is good to know from bangorme that bookmarks manager extension for Opera works well, so we have an alternatives. All is well on the Opera reservation. Lol.

It seems no longer to be possible to set ixquick or startpage as my default search engine for address field searches. In Opera 12.16 I can make any search engine the default. In Opera 20 I can only choose from google, bing, amazon, yahoo and wikipedia. Have I missed something? Is there a conscious reason for this step backwards?

I know I can specify search engine by prefixing the code I've given it to my search.

Nope, that possibility was removed in that very version (12.16), to stop rogue sites/code from hijacking Opera users default search engines (You can only set the ones provided). The last version of Opera (Presto) to support setting any search engine as a users default is 12.14.

The recent decisions are pushing me away. Why switch to Blink from Presto? Why remove bookmarks and act like no one uses them, then remove the only good extension that handles bookmarks? Why import bookmarks TO SPEED DIAL (retarded move)? Why when every new version comes out, that there are no improvements and no old features being added back?

I honestly think they want every user to go away. The only thing keeping me here is that Firefox and it's derivatives are god-awful (come on, Mozilla - does the text always need to garble itself for no reason?), Google Chrome is lame and feels awkward, and IE is IE. Safari doesn't even count as a browser - and it's Apple crap.

Seriously, why do people keep saying stuff like this over and over again? Presto was a difficult engine for Opera to maintain and not enough websites were getting tested with it, the new one is so much better for rendering. The new Opera is getting built from the ground up, features take time. Also don't forget the thing known as the back end. A browser isn't just a bunch of front end features, the back end is getting the much needed work Presto couldn't deliver. If you want a browser full of features with a broken back end keep using Opera 12. I have no idea what work goes into making a browser and don't see the point in demanding the return of the old features as it wont make the Opera team implement them any faster. New Opera is so much better imo now that the browser engine is working properly...rant over.
