I would like to use Opera as my main browser but I can't if it won't play videos.
Does anyone know if this problem is being worked on?

        Videos work here:
1 - on openSuse Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma DE.
2 - on openSuse MicroOS Kalpa, with KDE Plasma DE.

Opera info for 1 and 2:
        Opera One (version: 103.0.4928.16)
        Update stream:Stable
        System:Freedesktop.org SDK 22.08 (Flatpak runtime) (x86_64; KDE)
        Chromium version:117.0.5938.132

(Since we are all not looking over your shoulder ...)

At a minimum, you should provide:
a - what OS you're running and the DE, plus the Opera version.
b - describe the behavior you see when you attempt to play a video., and any possible errors that may show up.

              Arch Linux, 6.5.6

              Opera One(version: 103.0.4928.16)
              Checking for updates…
              Update stream:Stable
              System:Arch Linux (x86_64; Unknown)
              Chromium version:117.0.5938.132

              Steps:
              Go to Facebook.com, login
Find a post with a video.
              Click the triangle play button.

              Expected behavior:
              Plays the video.

              What actually happens:
              Nothing.
Frame changes to black, but nothing plays.

                  I don't use FB, so can't comment.

There are many other online video sources other than FB, such as YouTube, Vimeo, DM, etc.

How about others? YouTube is popular.

@myswtest It's not really a replacement for my old browser if it doesn't do everything it does.

But thank you all. I simply installed
                    6 extra/opera-ffmpeg-codecs 117.0.5938.132-1 (1.7 MiB 5.6 MiB) (Installed)
and it seems to work now.

I still can't watch live streams on YouTube or any video on the Vimeo platform.

It's intended to work mainly with stable release.
