Not using the GX version, but I've had the same issue in Opera and just got version 97.0.4719.43 where the passphrase option is back again!
Adding my passphrase again has fixed the sync issue! -

@antoon1 What worked for me:
- On a second computer I installed Opera_GX_94.0.4606.96_Setup_x64.exe
- I copied the folders
C:\Users(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable
C:\Users(your username)\AppData\Local\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable
from original computer to that new installation
3. signed in to opera account
4. opened https://www.sync.opera.com and reset the passphrase
5. On the new opera 94 install disabled sync
6. (maybe restart opera) enabled sync again on the new operagx 94 installation without a passphrase and wait at least 15 minutes to sync
7. On original computer uninstalled operagx(take screenshots of your extensions forst so you can reinstall them and export your saved passwords in settings by clicking the 3 vertical dots, to be save export bookmarks as well in bookmarks menue) and deleted all 3 folders C:\Program Files\Opera GX
C:\Users(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable
C:\Users(your username)\AppData\Local\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable
8. installed Opera_GX_94.0.4606.96_Setup_x64.exe and signed in to opera account and enabled sync. now all your data is back
9. auto updated operagx to new version -

@robde This way sync works again without a passphrase and you do not lose your data.
Manually export and manual import of passwords and bookmarks would be also a simpler option. Simply export manually passwords and bookmarks and then uninstall and import on a fresh install manually -

I'm getting a notice when trying to enable synchronization on Opera GX and I'm encountering this issue, https://i.imgur.com/QhBu810.png, I've tried different accounts, turning it off and on again, signing out and back in, and nothing works. It's just for my current PC but works fine on my laptop as far as I know.

As I have read through all the comments here, literally nobody is able to synchronize their browsers. Me neither, I just built my first pc and wanted to continue with opera gx on it like I did on my laptop but now I am forced to change everything manually, because synchronization does not work. Opera, please fix this.

Opera GX won't sync between two pcs or between a pc and an android phone. I have logged into my 1 account across all 3 devices and have set up "sync everything" on all 3 devices. Nothing syncs. I don't see bookmarks on the sidebar, no passwords saved.

will this gonna get fixed any time soon ? Or should i find another web browser to use ? How the hell opera devs can not fix this for so long ? Makes no sense at all... Investing so much money on advertising software that is not working

I encountered the same issue. I use Opera GX on my macbook and now, I want to use it on my iMac. I installed the GX and login, do the stuff for synchronize but it doesn't sync all of the setting (sidebars, flows, mods etc.) and bookmarks to each other. What I got is that the GX synced the tabs I opened in macbook to iMac but other than that...non is synced.
Hope this problem will be solved soon.

I have tried syncing my account to another computer but when I click on the sync everything option, it just crashes, reopens and repeats it 3 times. After that, i can't even open Opera GX

@romeocraft man if i can't get an answer i'm switching back to chrome i don't care if it uses a lot cpu/ram , it can at least sync.

@romeocraft i am on windows 11, and in my Gmail it says on windows 10, maybe it only works on windows 10? or is this a stupid theory, you're clearly the computer expert here

@kevinxu1 nah actually I don't really care because it is kinda fun to set up something from zero again but it is also kinda annoying. I just bought myself a new laptop with Windows 11 on it and it is the same thing like on Windows 10 so there is no difference in the operating system. I managed to set Opera GX up within 20 minutes or so and now it is just the same as on my PC.

@romeocraft Cool! What i'm worried about is that my computer just breaks down and i can't manually import everything
-
ROMEOCRAFT last edited by
@kevinxu1 it should not break down or crash. You just have to set everything manually up. It can take up some time.

I have my account signed on with "Synchronize everything" and yet, all my history is since August, the time I bought my new computer. Does this mean it was not able to synchronize data from my old computer?
