It's all part of The Enshittification. At least with Adobe's form of it, I was able to roll back to PS CS6 and stick with that (as I don't need their asinine and over-rated 'AI' filters).

        Hmmm - strange, indeed.

Have been running Opera One for a while on my openSuse Tumbleweed systems (four different machines, plus on a MicroOS Kalpa system) and have not heard any sounds or other flash-n-glam visuals.

        Maybe it's a Windows-specific thing (?)

In my view the front end has lost its graphic quality. I now have to register which of the speed dial bookmarks are those I require. While the respective logos were full size in the icons, it was instantaneous recognition. now, it's lost that. Very much a case of 'why fix it if it's not broken?'

This startup noise is such encroaching behaviour! I'm the only one in the office who uses Opera. Every time there's an Opera update, everyone looks at me like I'm a crazy person. It's completely unacceptable.
I have been using Opera for years. Probably only until the next update...

I cannot believe I wake up and not only did opera 1 restart my PC but updated itself to the most hideous UI that has ever been forced upon me in my 32 years of using computers. You have completely wrecked the UI - all my tabs look ugly and are a complete mess. And because of this absolutely incompetent decision - made needlessly as there was never at any point and time a desire by the community for a UI redesign, the tabs convey no information at all. It is a bunch of tiny graphical icons the kind even a little kid wouldnt find appealing. I don't want you AI stuff - never did and no one else did either, but oh look you installed it anyway.

This is one of the worst UI redesigns I have ever seen in my entire life and I thought I had seen them all. Clearly your programmers and designers had nothing to justify their jobs so you allowed this to happen under the veneer of an update, but it is a giant step backwards, the kind of thing you see in a beta release of a product before anyone knows what their identity is. This is terrible and if there isnt an option to undo this I am going elsewhere and I will scream from the mountain tops for everyone else to join me too.

@separatereality I can relate so much!

I have been using Opera since version three, survived the big switch to Blink and the butchering of all useful features of old Opera without a single complain.

Even used Opera Mini with iPad, a very compromised experience.

But that sounds is making me consider switching to Firefox (Vivaldi being too ugly for my taste)

So, as I stated on my previous post, I suspected the start up noise is Win specific ... and it is! There is an .exe file on Win that runs the flash-n-glam.

Good to be on Linux 👍
                  (no noises here, or flashy)

@myswtest no worries, mate, eventually the PM will remember Opera has Linux users and you'll be graced with her favorite feature.

                      It obviously drives customer engagement!

Please revert some design changes back or make Opera Two with a similar design to version 9*.*. Please, please, please. I still try to reconcile with the current Opera one but I can't. I apologize for my negative post but I hope that you understand it.

Dear Opera Devs, Execs and other corporate evil entities:

Your latest release is a complete and utter failure. I cherished your application for it's versatility, ease of use and stability... and along comes this latest version: bugs, endless issues, difficulty moving tabs... the list of issues is endless now.

                          Just roll back ffs.

For some time now, I can't remember exactly when, there has been this annoying fanfare that sounds when Opera starts. I don't like it, I don't need it, I know I started the browser, but now I can't find a way to turn it off. What can I do?

maybe the devs like it, why not give the option to turn it off? both the sound and the splash screen. just do it

opera updates regularly, this is a reoccuring annoyance

Dear greedy Opera execs, corporate slugs and to the poorly underpaid, but wonderful Devs in your service:

I used to be able to drag tabs into another monitor screen with just one click and swipe.

I use to be able to close tabs easily with one click... now I can't even select the right tab from your window anymore... and when I do, it mutes the tab instead of closing.

I used to be able to select more than one tab and drag them easily... now you've ruined tabs, making it impossible for me to move, rearrange or select them the way I used to.

I'm completely lost and frustrated by the unintuitive and backward design of your latest release.

I cherished Opera for years; trusted in your good judgement and supported your platform; suggesting it to family members, friends, and customers. Now you need to respond.

                                      Fix your goddamn release.

Gladly, I‘m still not experiencing any bug in Opera One. Almost anything works for me as expected.
I use the new Aria AI for sure and comparing it to Bing I found it superior, at least in my test cases. And I especially like its integration into their iOS app, which is superb in my opinion.

I‘ve installed and fired up Edge just to compare both browsers and realized that the latter might have all the extras that Opera also claims to have. But two things keep me from using Edge as my browser of choice:
First, I really think, that Opera‘s interface is much cleaner, for me at least. Call it getting used to it. But even after the update I find everything I need.
Second, I‘m not that involved in Microsoft‘s eco system, I‘d rather try to avoid it, as they always happened to act anti-competitive in the past, concerning OS, browser and office. And therefore I bother them urging me to use their other services as well.

I‘ve tried all the other major browsers in the past, but they all let me coming back to Opera, eventually. I‘m neither posting this to say, that there aren‘t any flaws, nor to insult other users who’ve made less good experiences. I‘m just telling that for me, it‘s the least bad browser, so I might use it. And will do it for a time to come. Still, it‘s only a piece of software, nothing to struggle about, isn’t it?

Despite Opera releasing this series (Opera One) into production, the product does not feel production-ready. I qualify this by the large number of bugs I continue to encounter, with a significant portion of the bugs being severe. I regard Opera crashing as well as the loss of all (>140) tabs repeatedly as severe. I regard missing bookmark folders, display issues, lost Tab Islands, etc. as minor issues.

My work is mostly performed within a browser, and for this I use 3 Windows-based browsers, with Opera being my primary. I won't go into why Opera is my primary other than to say it has a ton of fantastic features and that I have used it since the early days. However, I do use other browsers because none of them are perfect and there are certain sites that just don't work properly in Opera, for example certain Microsoft admin sites.

Recently though Opera has made life difficult with the many bugs, some of which I am encountering repeatedly and that cause a lot of extra work for me. For example, I use 5 workspaces with approximately 30 open tabs in each, and I have many of the tabs in those workspaces grouped into tab islands. I am organised. Every now & again Opera loses all my open tabs which means (a) I have to use a 3rd-part extension to record my tabs so I can restore what Opera lost, (b) I have to restore & manually reallocate the tabs to their correct workspaces and (c) I have to manually put tabs back into the correct tab islands. And this has happened several times. That is a lot of repeated fixing for something that is supposed to be production-ready.

I have reported numerous bugs over the long time I have used Opera. I am sure others sometimes report the same bugs, as well as many others I haven't encountered. Opera never indicates to the bug-submitter if the issue has been replicated and resolved. If the bug is easily reproducible it is easy to test if its been resolved in a future release (sometimes only after many future releases), but often the bug is not easily reproducible. Opera should notify the submitter when it has been addressed. Because I never know which of my bugs have been addressed, sometimes I have to re-submit a bug that occurs again after an Opera update (causing more admin for Opera). It might be that Opera still has this bug open, or they may have closed the bug and hoped it was fixed, but I never know which.

I am sure Opera cares about its community of users. Tell us how we can more effectively help you improve the product other that simply submitting bugs or posting on this forum.

Likewise, please think how you can better address the issues your community raises via bug submissions, suggestions and blog posts like this.

                                            Thank you.
