@pipersun69 Since you said that only one device is listed, it's most probably coming from tour computer, your current Opera installation.
Resetting synced data may help on find it out. If you remove your data and the unknown bookmarks return, then you will be sure about that and can start thinking about the cause.

@pipersun69 So you reset your passphrase, www.sync.opera.com showed that you have no synced data and, now, you see all those unknow bookmarks back on Sync web page?

@leocg Not possible it came from my computer. Unless its some kind of remote thing. The bookmarks are in foreign language's. Over a thousand different book marks. From different parts of the world. That is what makes it so strange. I do not show them on my chrome browser. Just Opera. Something is fishy about this. This is one of the links https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox. On speed dial it shows this address as well olegbor0204@gmail.com. That link with that email is in my speed dial. It didn't originate from my computer unless its been a remote hack or something. It is really upsetting. I have no clue what to do or how to go about fixing it.

@pipersun69 The only way to add a bookmark to your synced data is by logging to Sync in Opera.
Did you check opera://bookmarks and couldn't find anything suspicious? There are other people accessing the same computer? -

@leocg Yeah a lot of supious stuff in the bookmarks. I have found links to at least 3 diffeent gmail accounts. Like 4 or 5 languages. All kind of werid stuff. I now have over 1600 bookmarks. I would say 200 at the most are mine. The other 1400 I have no clue where they have come from. I am almost positive its not been from this desktop. My wife and I are almost always at home.
The only thing I can think to do is close my Opera account and delete it. Then I worry that something neferious has been done using my account. And I would look guilty by deleting my account. I would rather Opera figure out wtf is going on. Then I can deal with it properly. I have sent them a couple of emails. I shall wait for more info from their end of things. Thanks for your time and help trying to figure this out. It is truly a strange think. Going thru these links is almost scary. Some of the things I have seen show me they have a porn addiction. -

@pipersun69 Logout from Sync service, remove all the bookmarks that you don't recognize from opera://bookmarks (don't forget to empty the trash), delete your synced data by resetting your passphrase and login to Sync service again.
After that, if something strange show up in your bookmarks you will know that it's coming from your computer. Unless someone has access to your Opera account username and passwords and are logged in to Sync.
But, then, you should see more that one device listed. -

@leocg Thats a lot of links to delete! Thanks for your help. Yeah they can't have my opera pw since I changed it. Not coming from this computer I am sure of that. So that means either its a glitch or bug. Or some one is hacking my computer. Using it remotly and what not. Not sure if I was hacked. Why would they put their links in my bookmarks. Wouldn't that kind of let me know they are hacking me.? Plus making a link to their gmail accounts would seem to be a stupid thing to do as well.

@pipersun69 If you don't mind losing your bookmarks, you can simply delete the bookmarks file.

@pipersun69 Go to Opera's profile directory (check the path in opera://about) in Windows Explorer and delete the Bookmarks file.

@pipersun69 said in Sync data has strange bookmarks and data:
Some how I have a bunch of sync data that doesn't belong to me. I have never seen it before. It is in multiple languages. Lots of porn and what not. Its only showing 1 device though. showing 40 opened tabs. When it should be 0. I don't know wtf is going on with it. None of these bookmarks show up on Chrome. What can I do about this?
It sounds like your sync data may have been compromised. To ensure the security of your personal information, I recommend you take the following steps:
Disconnect your Google account from your Opera GX browser by going to Settings > Sync > Disconnect.
Change your Google account password. Make sure to use a strong and unique password.
Check your Google account activity to see if there are any suspicious logins or devices connected. If you find any, remove them.
Check your Chrome browser and all other devices that are connected to your Google account for any suspicious activity.
Check your browser's extensions, disable or remove any that you don't recognize.
Make sure your browser and all your devices are running the latest software version.
Consider using a password manager, it can help you generate and store unique, complex passwords for your accounts.
If the problem persists or you see any further suspicious activity on your account, I recommend that you contact Google support for further assistance.
