WhatsApp web and Telegram web do not load any animated gifs or videos

Neither WhatsApp, nor Telegram web clients can load any gifs from their internal search engines. There is only a blank page without any results.
In Telegram, the gifs are actually listed, but they are not visible. Clicking will select them, but there's no way of knowing what you've clicked until it's posted.
For WhatsApp, searched items are invisible and it's impossible to select any of them.
I have tried disabling all privacy protection features for both applications, but no luck.
Anything else I can try to fix this?

@juliohm1978 Does it work in a regular tab? Does it work in other browsers?

Hi, @leocg
It won't work for regular tabs or the embedded sidebar.
WhatsApp and Telegram work fine in all other browsers (FF, Chrome, Brave, etc).
I'm using Opera 89.0.4447.83 in Linux Mint 20.3, cinnamon desktop.

@leocg
Funny enough, YouTube works fine.I also found out that I can't load video files from my local storage. Drag and drop a mp4 video from my desktop into Opera, and it can't play the video. It could be related, but I'm not sure.
All I get is a tab with this unresponsive player.
Dropping media files into any other browser works just fine.

@juliohm1978 I guess you just don't have the codecs to play the videos. Check the topics below:
