As a shining, or should I say flashing, example of not leaving well alone, my new version of Opera started displaying black flashing strips at the bottom left of the screen, with the URL of what my mouse is hovering on being displayed subsequently.
Moving the mouse down a page of a forum such as this one, resembles the continuous transmission of a kind of Morse code in black flashes – not my idea of Christmas lights decoration.

As I find this “feature” not only quite useless but also highly disturbing, is there a way of turning it off?

      Windows 10 64bit, Opera 73

@rossini I didn't ever experience this, so it might not be a problem of Opera.

I think it some kind of driver or hardware issue.
Is it behaving such normally too?
If it is doing such, connect an external monitor and check.

First of all, my appreciation and thanks to those that took the time to reply.

Now, this strange behavior was happening all day Saturday, but stopped when I switched on yesterday, and also it's all fine today. So it must be classified as one of those occasional temporary malfunctions that are hard to explain and in fact not worth explaining. It had me really worried for a while,

Hoping it won't reappear, this thread can now be closed.

Good to see that the problem is solved by self.
I hope that it will not appear again.
