It would also be helpful to me to have this feature. Also, I'd like for the browser not to switch out of incognito when navigating to another site.

I would appreciate "Switching to Incognito Mode For Dummies" type of instructions, as I do not understand the technical language.

You can edit Opera's shortcuts to pass --private to launcher.exe. That'll always launch Opera in private mode if you use the shortcuts. If Opera opens via a file/protocol association though, it'll open in normal mode.
